Commencement of Asia-Pacific Regional Group within the IAEA Environmental Remediation and Management Network (Environet)

The IAEA “Environet” provides a forum to share knowledge and experience of sites contaminated with enhanced natural radioactivity or artificial radionuclides.

As a result of a recent Plenary Meeting of the Environet Network in late 2018, the IAEA has  announced the formation of several Regional Groups of Environet. The Asia-Pacific regional co-ordinators of Environet are Dr Tim Payne based in Australia (ANSTO) and Dr Dadong Iskander of Indonesia (Batan). Dr Payne is also the Chair of the Environmental Applications Committee of the WCI.  Tim would like to encourage scientists,  regulators and other technical professionals who are based in Asia and the Pacific Region to participate in this regional group of Environet.

This regional group will discuss specific issues and challenges associated with the Management and Environmental Remediation of Radioactive Contaminated Sites in the Asia-Pacific region.  It is hoped that the members of this new regional group of the Environet will have a strong presence at the upcoming ICI conference (10-ICI)  in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in February 2020.

If you are interested in receiving more information about the Asia-Pacific Environet group, please send an email containing your name and affiliation to EnvironetAsia@ansto.gov.au and further information will be sent to you.  [If you are located outside the Asia-Pacific Region and are interested in joining a regional group of Environet, please send an email to EnvironetAsia@ansto.gov.au and it will be forwarded to the appropriate regional coordinator].
