UPPI, LLC announces conversion progress from HEU to LEU

Seven nuclear pharmacy members and affiliates of United Pharmacy Partners (UPPI LLC) received a recognition award from the Office of Material Management and Minimization of the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA). This was in recognition of the ongoing effort by UPPI LLC to provide radiopharmaceuticals based on molybdenum-99/technetium-99m produced from low enriched uranium (LEU). The “UPPI LEU Walk” complements DOE/NNSA efforts to minimize the use of highly enriched uranium (HEU) in civilian applications while ensuring a reliable supply of Tc-99m by supporting the establishment of domestic production of non-HEU-based molybdenum-99.
