The
structure of the medical radioisotope supply chain is impeding the provision of
technetium-99m (Tc-99m), a new report by an OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA)
high-level group has found. Supplies of the world's most widely used medical
radioisotope remain fragile. No medical radioisotope is more important than
Tc-99m, NEA Director General William Magwood said at the launch of The Supply
of Medical Radioisotopes: An Economic Diagnosis and Possible Solutions on 18
November.
