Of the 69 rulers of the unified Roman Empire 62% suffered violent deaths. The time-to-violent-death of Roman emperors was quantitatively examined and reported to the Palgrave Communications, a Nature Open Access Journal, by Dr. Joseph Homer Saleh of Georgia Tech using statistical tools of survival data analysis. The risk of violent death of Emperors was highest in the first year of their rule. Their risk of violent death increased again after 12 years of rule.
