With accelerator system in hand, Wisconsin's Shine Medical can begin production of Mo-99
A recent partnership between two Wisconsin tech companies is setting up the commercial production of molybdenum-99, a radioisotope used in medical imaging.
Phoenix LLC, a Monona-based nuclear
technology company, supplied Janesville-based Shine Medical Technologies with a
unit accelerator designed for the commercial production of the radioisotopes.
Construction of Shine's first medical isotope production facility is scheduled
to begin in the spring of 2019. Commercial production of molybdenum-99 (Mo-99)
will begin in 2021.
