2020/06/02

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is organizing the Second International Conference on Applications of Radiation Science and Technology (ICARST-2021) at the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna, Austria from 19 to 23 April 2021. Approximately 500 participants from IAEA Member States and invited international organizations are expected to attend this event.

The purpose of the event is to provide a forum for radiation technologists, entrepreneurs or stakeholders involved in applications of radiation technologies, research scientists engaged in nuclear and radiation research and policy makers and regulators through which industry and academia can foster new initiatives for ensuring the success of radiation technologies in meeting the emerging challenges in various areas. The event is aimed at radiation technologists, entrepreneurs or stakeholders involved in applications of radiation technologies, research scientists engaged in nuclear and radiation research, and policy makers and regulators.

Companies wishing to take advantage of this opportunity to exhibit are requested to contact the Scientific Secretary of the event via the email address icarst2021@iaea.org and are encouraged to make a voluntary contribution to the IAEA in support of the event. The contribution would be utilized to financially support scientists from developing countries to attend the event or other costs directly related to the organization of the event. An acknowledgement of the voluntary contribution will be made on the event website, the IAEA Meetings and Conferences mobile application, and other information sources promoting the event. To this end, please indicate whether you give permission to the IAEA to publish and/or use the name and emblem of your organization/company in the above-mentioned electronic media.

In view of space limitations, the selection of organizations/companies will be based on a ‘first come first served’ basis. To allow for timely preparation, all pledges should be received before 31 October 2020.

Each company will be provided with, free of charge, an exhibition space of 6m2 (3x2m) including one table (80x160cm) and 2 chairs. Alternatively, professional booths with walls can be rented from an outside company.

Kindly note that exhibitors that wish to be registered as participants, should follow the participation procedures described on the event website:

In addition, please be informed that to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability, the IAEA will organise this event as a green meeting according to the guidelines of the Austrian Ecolabel.

This means that the IAEA will keep the ecological impact of this event as low as possible. The Vienna International Centre is already a workplace that is powered by carbon neutral electricity from 100% renewable sources and is certified with the Austrian Ecolabel. There will be a focus on the areas of paper smart documentation, waste reduction and recycling, and environmentally friendly catering.

Exhibitors can have a role in this endeavour and are encouraged to choose environmentally friendly options when planning their participation such as avoidance of mass distribution of flyers or other printed materials, hand out printed materials only upon request, or give preference to electronic information transfer (e.g. indication of links for download, etc.). If giveaways cannot be avoided, products made of durable and/or reusable environmentally sound materials (domestic wood, natural fibres) without synthetic individual packaging, without batteries, from fair trade, or with certified quality seals are preferred.

Further details on logistical arrangements and on the sustainability requirements of the Austrian Ecolabel certification which needs to be signed will be sent to the exhibitors after their replies have been received.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require additional information.

We look forward to receiving your reply by 31 October 2020.
